No matter how long the slinky is, the bottom of the slinky will stay still (hover) until the top reaches it. Even if the slinky is over 1000 feet long.

Saw this demonstration in physics…
It has to do with the tension in the coils, the top coil crashes into the one below it, then it’s like a domino effect. The bottom’s still got that tension from the coils above it which keeps it “levitating”.
